The Types Of CPAP Systems And Their Components
The CPAP circuit consists of Cpap masks, tubes and a machine. The Cpap machine is an integral part of the CPAP therapy. It is basically used at home for the treatment of sleep apnea. This disorder is caused due to the narrowing of upper airway. Due to the lowering in the amount of oxygen, the patient at times has to suddenly wake up. Now what does sleep apnea machines do?
They basically help in respiratory ventilation. It delivers the compressed and pressurised air by splinting the patient’s airway. Through this method the obstruction in breathing is cleared. A sleep technician calculates the pressure needed by the airways of the patient before the treatment is prescribed.
There are four types of CPAP systems. The first one is the fixed pressure system, which can only deliver a constant pressure. The second one is the automatic Cpap that according to its name, functions in tandem with the pressure requirement of the patient. The Bipap provides two kinds of pressure for both inhalation and exhalation. The fourth kind of Cpap is the xPap that forces a particular number of breaths every minute. Patients with central apnea disorder are prescribed this kind of system.
The parts of a Cpap system are Interface, flow generator and a hose.
In spite of how functional the entire Cpap circuit is you need to take care of its maintenance to ensure its durability. In addition to it if you have any qualms regarding the portability factor, it is now solved with the units of nPAP flooding the market area.
